Walk down the road, down to the water via the Reserve, and you might run into this turtle. She was basking on the stones, perhaps going to her nest. She does not look like a box turtle, big, but not colorful at all.
She could be a mud turtle or wood turtle, hard to tell when they are all withdrawn into their shells. All are out and about in the Spring, however, looking for places to lay their eggs. She did not move as I walked by, only retreated into her shell, pretending to be a river rock. Other sightings? Tell us.
